Review- A FAIL on my “Perfect Black Liner Quest”

Ah, Sephora. I love this store. They sell so many of my fave brands. Unfortunately the Sephora-brand product line?…. Not my favorite stuff.

I am on a constant quest to find the perfect black eyeliner(s). I already found my perfect pencil- Urban Decay’s 24/7 Zero. I haven’t found the perfect liquid liner pen yet though.  My most recent eyeliner purchase was this Sephora liner,“Sephora Collection doe-eyed felt liner pen.” I went there to try/buy the TokiDoki Perfetto liner but they were all out and I needed something right away.  I went about swatching various liners that had good reviews on the net. I landed on this one which I hadn’t seen reviews of but it looked so nice on my wrist!  It was very dark black & easy to apply a thick to a thin line. The tip was stiff but not so stiff that it wouldn’t bend at all. You know when an eyeliner tip is so hard that it creates a streaky uneven line? Not pretty!! I liked the way this liner worked from swatching it better than any of the other, more expensive ones I had tried. I decided it might even be more what I needed than the liner I set out to buy in the first place!

I got it home and really enjoyed using it for about a week.It went on nicely and stayed on. No flaking or smudging! Wonderful!  The next couple days I noticed that it worked when I did one eye but when I got to the second it was kind of dry, like if it was a brush it would need to be dipped back into the tube. I tried shaking it and putting the cap back on for a few minutes before using it again but nothing helped much. The next day, same thing. . The problem didn’t go away and after a couple weeks the intensity of the black faded noticeably. I don’t think it was dried out either.   When I got it, it was sealed. It also was not under the lights in the display because the display was empty so an SA brought it from the back.

Overall, I say this liner is a fail. Not worth it! If you have used this with different results please share your experience.

And…just so this post isn’t all negativity- I’m not as big into lipstick as I am into eye colors but I’ve been trying all kinds of lipstick the past 6 months. I recently found a formula that I am totally, completely smitten with! Morgana Minerals vegan lippies are A-MAY-ZINGG!! I cannot believe what this lipstick can last though. And it feels so nice! Full review to come.  😀

Review-Urban Decay Setting Spray- De Slick

I had been putting off reviewing this for about 2 weeks after getting it because I had a hard time making up my mind as to whether I liked it or not. The weather in New Orleans in the summer can be brutal with humidity index matching the temperatures number value-ecchh. A full face of makeup does not fare well in those conditions, let me tell you! When I first heard about the new Urban Decay setting sprays I placed an order immediately.

This is the first two paragraphs of the product description from  Urban Decay’s website-

“When the oil production of your face rivals a small OPEC nation, you need a mighty ally. De-Slick uses innovative oil control that both absorbs excess sebum and controls surface shine. The problem-solving formula mists on, feels weightless, and sets makeup so it lasts ALL DAY. Its light dispersing particles deflect shine and deliver a matte look for up to 16 hours. Really.
De-Slick also contains powerful temperature control technology, which keeps your makeup from melting down when it’s warm and humid, and dehydrating when its cold and windy. Simply mist on before, and again after, your beauty routine to prevent loss of color, melting, sliding, excess shine, fading eyeshadow and lip color disappearance. AND it’s formulated to resist moisture, so you can fearlessly sweat, cry, or get your Jacuzzi on… while your makeup remains looking just-applied.”

While I thought the claims may be a bit far-fetched (16 hours…a JACUZZI?)  I figured it would at least help me a little during the mean Louisiana summer. I also figured that if it worked here in the summer for me that it would work for anyone anywhere!

I noticed that it did exactly what I expected- it helped a little. I’m sorry to say this is just not a holy grail product for me. I want to love everything Urban Decay puts out and I usually do. I think the only other FAIL I’ve had from them was a liquid foundation they put out like seven years ago. The spray helped in the humidity by not making the powder products I use on my face look all cakey and nasty the way a little moisture on your face can do.  It also helps with non-waterproof mascara that during humid days can end up all around your eye instead of staying put on your lashes. It did help keep my oil in check a little more than usual, but I already use a couple oil-control products daily & I didn’t get a chance to use this alone without the help of the other products so I cannot say how much it helps on it’s own. I found better results if I used it before my makeup over primer, then again after with two coats- spray in a cross formation over your face then an X, wait for it to dry then repeat.  Overall, I’d say it helps enough with oil and assisting makeup to stay put that I will continue using it. On the days I haven’t used it, I haven’t missed it though.  I feel pretty “meh” about it honestly.

I think that different people will see different results with these sprays. Depending on your climate and your skin traits I think the results will differ.  I’m curious to hear what other people think of them because  no one on the blogs I read has reviewed them yet. If you are reading this & have tried any of them I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Goth-friendly cosmetics (&cyber,rockabilly,lolita,deathrock, etc)PT 1

There are so many cosmetic companies out there that either have products that look like they’d be great and after trying it, it’s disappointingly unoriginal. There are plenty of companies who claim their colors are so bright, XXX and you learn after trying them they either aren’t all they cracked up to be or have such shoddy business practices you don’t even want to buy their products. If my links on the sidebar aren’t enough, I’d like to introduce you (or possibly just provide a refresher) on some companies worth supporting that have makeup that is friendly to extreme, unique and subcultural styles. None of these companies test on animals (unless I’ve somehow been mislead, in that case please let me know) Most of the websites and products say right on them that they do not test on animals. Here is a list of companies that do not test on animals as well –http://www.caringconsumer.com/pdfs/companiesDontTest.pdf

And here’s another link, this one all makeup http://www.mymakeupmirror.com/MakeupWithoutCruelty.html

Another note on that, most of these brands I know don’t test on animals because it says so on the products I own from those companies. The rest I found out about online.

First off, some major cosmetic companies;

Too Faced- Their powder eye shadows are buttery-smooth and drenched with pigment. True to the color in the pan once on your skin. They make some really nice inexpensive palettes. Their eyelid primer, “Shadow Insurance” often referred to as TFSI on beauty blogs across the web is a must-have to make your shadows appear more vibrant & last longer without creasing or looking messy. Their glitter eyeliners are (In my opinion) some of the best you can buy if you want a very glittery line. Most glitter liners I’ve tried you have to layer like crazy to get a sparkly enough  line but these give you glitter-encrusted lids with 2-3 swipes. The Lash Injection mascara is on many makeup maven’s favorite-product lists. The liquif-eye liner transformer is a must have- it transforms any eyeshadow into a liner with this clear formula and eyeliner brush, I *love* it! You’ll never have to purchase a colored liner again. Of course they have plenty of other products but these are the ones that come to my mind first and we could be here all day if i keep going.

MAC- Self explanatory, right? I was actually never wowed by the way their products looked. I wasn’t interested at all until recently. I understood that everyone and their mommas (and their aunts, best friends, co-workers) were in love with all that is Mac but trips into the mac store had me feeling…meh. I finally picked up one of their pigments because it was a dupe of a too faced color I had been looking for and WHAM- I was a convert. With that one product, I finally saw the light. I am not obsessed yet but I did return soon thereafter for the shadow that was a close match to the pigment. I spent awhile swatching everything I could get my hands on.  I’m impressed by how vibrant their colors are. The loose pigments are all really amazing. They are so multi-dimensional and they aren’t that way by being stuffed with glitter. Everything about their products is high quality. If you can afford it, try replacing so-so brushes with MAC tools. Google mac brush reviews or even makeup tutorials for an idea of which brushes might suit your needs, or of course just go to a mac store.

Make Up For Ever-  Ok, This company consistently blows me away with product quality and their fearlessly bright colors. Do you pine after those cybergoth bright pink (or red, green etc) eyes? You know, the almost neon colors with black liner and super high brows?  This is a line that will help you get the look. They also have red, orange and yellows that aren’t dulled down to be more easily marketable like some other companies.  Their mattes, aqua creams, aqua color waterproof liners, crazy false lashes, star powders, all of it is just amazing! I’m in love with their face primer too, in case you didn’t see my review. (it’s just a few posts down)

Urban Decay- Another line that is probably self-explanatory. I know I’ve been in love with this company since I saw  a full-page ad for their nail polish in the early ’90’s.  A lot of their shadows have glittery and duo-chrome finishes. They have so many beautiful shadow shades I want almost all of them! They shadows are nicely pigmented and apply easily, though with the glittery ones you will probably have some glitter particles fall out onto your cheeks. My solution is just to do my eyes before my face makeup. If glitter isn’t your thing they now have a matte line, and also the deluxe shadows which are more of a satiny sheen, no glitter.I recommend the deluxe shadow palette. Their eye primer has attained holy-grail status, Urban Decay Primer Potion or UDPP as it’s called in the beauty blogs comes in three formulas and is one of the best eye primers available (IMO). I switch between the original and Eden formulas. Eden is yellow tinted and a little thicker than the whitish-clear original. Eden can be worn alone to color-correct your lids and give them a matte finish. They have a variety of liners available and their 24/7 pencils are a product I can’t live without. That is the best black pencil eyeliner I have ever used and I have tried plenty different kinds in the 14 years I’ve been wearing liner. The big fatty mascara is great for volume. Their lipsticks are popular, as are their face products. The De-slick oil control products are supposed to be amazing. Oil is something I struggle with and I look forward to trying those.

Kat Von D- Perfect for goth and rocker looks, Kat Von D’s palettes feature dark smoky colors and tattoo design packaging. The quality of the shadows is wonderful, they are smooth, buildable,  rich in pigment and blend easily. She mixes it up with different finishes featured in each palette so you can find your lid, crease & highlight colors all in one spot. A lot of her shadows work great as liners also. She has been coming out with new products lately including eye primer, concealer that claims to cover tattoos as well as dark circles and lip colors.

If the above products are a little out of your price range don’t fret, there are some drugstore brands that don’t shy away from bright colors and give decent bang for your buck.

Milani- I didn’t know anything about their stuff when I purchased my first shadow compact. It was called Runway eyes and had 6 shades of black fading to gray and silver. I was impressed with the pigmentation and how they retained the color when blended. It is a fantastic palette for smoky eye looks. Their eye quads are something I want one of each of. They feature four colors that can be used alone or together for an quick and easy look that requires no guesswork! Their singles in fun glittery finishes are like a drugstore competitor for Urban Decay.  The eyeliners are the best drugstore liners I have found, both pencil and liquid versions!

Nyx- The Eyeshadow trios come in fun, bright colors but the payoff varies. I’ve noticed the medium to dark colors are true to color whereas yellows, lime green, just lighter colors in general come out looking kind of sheer. I love their purple shadows the most! Their jumbo shadow sticks are a holy grail makeup base rivaling Mac’s paint pots. The colors most often used in internet makeup tutorials are “Black Bean” and “Milk”. I’m looking for someplace local that carries these as we speak !(type?) They offer a full-range of cosmetic products & are even the official makeup of RuPaul’s Drag Race the TV show! Their glitter liners are popular as are their lipsticks.

Rimmel- Sexy Curves Mascara is the best waterproof drugstore mascara I have found. I honestly don’t have any experience with their other products but I know people rave about the bronzer and blushes. It’s very inexpensive so check it out and experiment!

Well, I hope this was helpful. I realize that if you have a beauty blog, practically live at Sephora, have been into makeup for awhile, etc. That this isn’t going to be anything you don’t already know. That’s fine, I want to help people looking for makeup to compliment their alternative style that don’t already know where to look or want something new to try. I didn’t include links because all of these brands can be found  so easily using google or by checking in sephora or on sephora.com. Happy hunting and playing!

Article-Staying True to your (alternative) Style part 1

When I was a teenager, Like all teenagers I swore when I got older I would not be one of those style-less fuddy-duddy people that conform to become part of the evil corporate machine. Even as I reached my early 20’s I had managed to get jobs that were OK with my waist-length purple synth-dreads and snakebite lip piercings. I maintained that I would not take out my piercings or change my hair for a job. If they didn’t want me the way that I was and wanted to be, then they couldn’t have me at all.

Last year at age 26 I finally did the unthinkable. I took out all my facial piercings (by this time I had four) and dyed my hair black. It wasn’t even for a specific job! I had been looking for work unsuccessfully for over a month and everyplace I applied mentioned my appearance. I shook it off and swore I would find something that worked with the way I looked. Reality eventually set in of course and money dwindled to the point that just finding work, any work became the top priority. I felt as though I was losing a little piece of myself. I really liked the way my piercings went with my face. I loved changing my hair monthly, trying the most fun and outlandish styles I could achieve. Most of all, I liked being able to say that I always stayed true to my self and my sense of style. Now I became  that old sellout I swore I’d never be.

Or was I?  I had decided that finding work and supporting myself was more important to me. I didn’t change anything because anyone told me to but because I knew that at the point I was at that I either had to change something to move on, or not change and be stuck in place, broke and unhappy. I wasn’t changing because I was being greedy and wanted more money or to move up- just make any money and move forward at all.

What I would like most of all is to have a profession I can be successful at and also look however I want. That is a goal I have set for myself. That will take some moving through the ranks of work and life and putting in my dues in this case requires me to tone my appearance down while in the workplace. There are professions besides being a tattoo artist where you can dictate how you look and not the other way around. I’ll be writing another article about that soon.

Within any subculture there are visual clues, stylistic representations that alert people to what we are trying to express, possibly even what music we like, what our attitudes may be like and overall what cultural group we align ourselves with. When we have to change our style to fit the requirements of a job, we worry that we will no longer express ourselves correctly though our looks, will no longer be recognizable as part of our chosen subculture to others, especially members of that particular subculture.

There are ways to alter your appearance to help you keep your style whether it’s dressing up to go out to a show or club, or trying to look like yourself in a uniform for work. Clothing is the most obvious way to express yourself. Not only do I like to find clothing that I love to wear but I am starting to make and up-cycle my own creations to express myself even further. Fake hair is our friend. Wigs, extensions, falls and all kinds of crazy additions to those things are a fun way to help dress up. Makeup is a big one. I think part of the reason why I am more interested in makeup now than I ever was is because I rely on it  more heavily to express what my piercings (hair, etc) cannot. Tattoos in non-visible places are another thing that is all yours and will help solidify your sense of style. I have designs on my thighs that show when I wear miniskirts and one on my shoulder blade that shows when I wear tanks but neither are visible in typical work clothing or uniforms. Maybe you can’t get away with waist length purple dreads at work but find out if you can have purple streaks. If not a funky color try highlights of black on auburn, or strawberry blonde on red, something that looks neat in natural colors. Haircuts can go a long way to helping you look the way you want when stuck in a uniform so keep this in mind when going to the hairdresser. A uniform-length bob that stops at chin-length will make you look conservative with no other visual clues as to your style. An asymmetrical bob however will look more edgy. Short and spiky with long pieces in the front will look cute and punky on a girl and sexy and cutting-edge on a guy. Angled cuts (shorter in back, longer in front like a V-cut) always look good too. Some workplaces are ok with retainers (clear plastic pieces) worn at work in place of facial piercings. They are nearly invisible and keep the holes open. This wouldn’t work with large gauges, unfortunately.

As much as we may want to tell our future boss off when they tell us we have to change XXX if we want the job, sometimes it’s just not feasible. Sometimes just making a living becomes our highest priority. I truly hope eventually the children of today (or their grandchildren) live in a world where how you look has no impact on how you choose to make your living.  No one wants to be a sell-out  but not being able to roll with life’s changes is equally undesirable. For now, we must learn to practice balance.

Article- The joys of Combination Skin!

It is generally accepted that there are five types of skin. Normal, dry, acne-prone, oily or sensitive.  If you’re really unlucky you have a combination of  oily, dry and if you really won the lottery, sensitivity & possibly redness. If your skin falls into the combination category your main complaint and the nature of your skin will probably shift and change a bit from your teenage years through middle-age. When I was a teen I didn’t have acne but I had very very dry skin. My mother was not very big into skincare or cosmetics and consequently couldn’t give me any tips to make myself look like less of a flaky mess, not even something simple  like “Use Moisturizer!”  I used to be horribly self-conscious about what looked like dandruff around my eyebrows which I later found out was something like an allergy to the over-production of yeast, or something called “yeast overgrowth.”  That was when I saw a dermatologist for the condition and was given a topical ointment for my face that I used in place of moisturizer. It was a form of ketoconazole which helps reduce the shedding of cells. I used the ointment for 3 years, and then the problem became less intense and moisturizer was enough to keep my dry skin in check. As I got older my problem went from combination/dry to really bad breakouts and now i have adult acne and a very oily t-zone with slightly dry spots. My face has always been sensitive, too. Lucky me, huh? Because of my skin problems, until recently I had a hard time getting foundation to look natural. Instead of blending in, it seemed to highlight my problems by looking patchy and caking in the dry spots making them look very flaky. I was most comfortable in low light & knowing how I must look in fluorescent lighting made me want to hide my face when I had to be in a room lit that way. I’ve read articles upon articles on skincare for the different types and they often have only a couple vague statements on combination skin or they skip it altogether! From trial and error, I finally have a skincare routine that works for me. What works for one person doesn’t always work for another but here are my tips for having  healthy combination skin.

First off, alternate between a gentle  cleanser and something to exfoliate. Use the gentler one most days and exfoliate 2-3 times per week- more, if you notice buildup. Be careful though, exfoliating too often can strip the skin of it’s natural oils which in turn will cause your oil-glands to over compensate and you will be extra -shiny! For an exfoliating cleanser I use good old Saint Ives Apricot Scrub. For the gentle everyday cleanser I use Clean & clear finishes even tone foaming cleanser. It’s oil-free and has ingredients to calm the skin. If your skin is sensitive and tends to get red easily, try only using an exfoliating cleanser once a week or try what a Make-up artist once told me- while in the shower, take a face-cloth and soak it in warm water. Hold it against your face like a mask for about 20-30 seconds and then gently rub it in  slow, short circular motions against your skin. Start in the middle of your face and work outwards, buffing the dead skin off your face.

When you can find them, use products labeled for combination skin. Also, always stick to oil-free products!

Soak a cotton ball or cotton round in an alcohol-free toner and treat your face with it after cleansing. I’ve been using L’oreal hydrafresh.

Alternate between a light, oil-free moisturizer in the mornings and heavier moisture in the evenings, but only if your dry patches are very bad. If oil is your main problem with light dryness, just stick to a light oil-free formula such as Neutrogena oil-free moisture for combination skin.

Always take off all your makeup! Do not sleep in it!  Not only will that make your skin problems worse, it will clog pores, cause breakouts & prematurely age your face. You don’t want that now, do you? At the very least keep makeup-removing towelettes by your bed and wipe yourself down before passing out. This is at the LEAST! It’s better to have a routine at night with all the steps you need for your healthiest skin.

After using an oil-free makeup remover in the evening, you may want to cleanse, use toner and moisturize again.I find that cleansing twice a day irritates my skin and moisturizing multiple times makes my skin way too oily, but see what works for you.

Now, if you have acne too you’ll want to treat that in the evenings.  There are two basic acne treatments available over the counter. So what I found works best is I swipe my face with pads, a 2% salicylic acid treatment is standard.I buy Neutrogena Rapid Clear treatment pads. There are many different brands of pads in a jar  out there and they vary in cost but almost all are the same exact thing! A textured pad soaked in 2% salicylic acid solution. I then use a 10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel. These are usually white but dry clear (because no one wants cream dotted all over there face at night when they lay down next to someone!) I use walgreen’s brand and it’s ok. I advise buying clean& clear maximum strength benzoyl peroxide gel though because walgreen’s texture  is a little gritty.

My final tip is that if an over-the-counter regimen is not helping, see a dermatologist. This may seem like a lot of steps but  having combo skin means needing multiple solutions to address our multiple problems. Also, I know people who have much more complex skincare routines with far less problematic skin to begin with! As usual, of course, it’s all in what works for you. Also, I do not only use drugstore products but as far as my skin goes, these things work for me so why pay more?

Article- Dark Fashion Finds on Etsy vol1

I just tried to post my dark fashion finds from mainstream clothing stores, but unfortunately It came out looking quite wonky because of the way i aligned the pictures chopping up the text. I don’t have the patience to re-post the exact same thing and I also thought it came out looking a little cheesy. I decided I would post my etsy finds instead. I will re-post my first idea also at another time in the not-too-distant future because all of those things were much more affordable. I personally am on a budget but I look forward to when I can actually purchase some of the amazing articles of clothing I have on my Favorites list on Etsy.  There are a lot of darkly Fashionable goodies on the site and since I’ve spent some time perusing and finding these gems, I thought it worthwhile to share them and possibly save you some time hunting! The following are just a few, for the time being.

Review-Make Up For Ever HD Microperfecting Face Primer in 0-Neutral

Taken from the Sephora.com product description-

“What it is:
A lightweight, oil-free complexion corrector that enhances the skin’s texture and primes the skin for makeup application.

What it does:
HD Microperfecting Primer deeply nourishes, moisturizes, and softens the skin, creating a glowing effect. Creates a protective layer on the skin allowing foundation to glide on easily and last longer.

What else you need to know:
The Sephora-exclusive primer comes in six color-correcting shades and one transparent shade.”

Let me state before beginning that I have combination skin. My skin can get dry but my T-zone is very oily and I suffer from breakouts as well. I’m telling you that to give you an idea of what I’m dealing with because your skin may be different and products may work differently for you.

I had tried two face primers already and was starting to think maybe primer wasn’t for me. The first primer I ever tried was Laura Geller’s Spackle. This was before primers had saturated the market and before the average cosmetics consumer had any idea what primer even was.  My mother being the QVC addict that she is, ordered this for both of us. She liked the brightening effect it had on her (mature) skin where I just thought it made me look way too shiny. What was supposed to add a dewy look or a glow translated to oily-looking in my opinion. The second primer I tried was  from Revlon.. It was a gel that felt smooth between your fingers and almost like a fine powder. That one made my face look & even  feel oily unlike the spackle which just made me look overly “dewy.”  I hated what it did to my face, it made my skin look dull, it seemed to emphasize my combination skin problems and even altered the color of my foundation a little. Major FAIL.

I didn’t actually decide I wasn’t going to use a primer ever again but I ceased looking for one that suited me for awhile. Then about a month ago I was in line at Sephora and they had the little tube (pictured above) of the Mufe HD Primer in neutral for $15. I grabbed it as an impulse purchase, hoping maybe it would help my foundation last a little longer and that since it was a higher-end brand it would work better than Revlon. Also it looked whitish but clear, not pearly like the LG Spackle which had an opalescent look to it in the jar.

With my combination skin, when I tried to put on foundation right after showering  it didn’t look right. It would cake up in spots and look patchy and even emphasize the light flakiness I had around my nose.

The first time I used this primer I noticed the difference. I used it after moisturizing before any makeup. I did it within 30 minutes of getting out of the shower which normally would be a problem. I was amazed at how it went on completely clear, had a very faint scent that simply smelled clean and actually made my skin look better. If I put it on and didn’t put on makeup over it my face would still look good. When you put foundation over it, it smooths on easily and you actually need less foundation to cover your face. You can build up coverage and blend with a sponge without any pilling or flaking off of the primer. It seemed to smooth down any little flakes I had and totally got rid of my caking-around-the-nose-problem I had before. I realized after a few uses I didn’t need as much moisturizer when I use this primer. Another thing I noticed was that if I used my concealer over the primer it stayed put much better than on bare skin. My makeup definitely lasts longer-now I dust some powder on during lunch and touch up the foundation before going out after work, as opposed to touching up foundation at lunch. The product does not claim to help with oil-control so if oily skin is a problem for you, you will need a mattifying gel like Urban Decay’s De-Slick in a tube, or a transluscent mattifying powder such as Urban Decay De-Slick powder, Laura Geller’s Matte Maker or Hard Candy’s version, I apologize for not knowing it’s name because I have it as part of a palette. This primer also comes in different color-correcting formulas. Handy, no?

I will be picking up a full-size when my 15 ml tube runs out. A full size retails at $32. I have been using my tube for a month and have about 1/3 left. Not bad!

Swatches and thoughts-Morgana Minerals

I received my first order from Morgana Minerals today!! I didn’t take pics of everything yet, but I got some of her vegan lipstick samples, hair dye, stackable mini jars, white stage makeup and two foundation samples. The reason I jumped on here immediately after my order came was not because of any of that, it was the eyeshadow. Specifically one particular color.

Oh. My. Goodness.

I am not stranger to the awesomeness that is mineral eyeshadow. I have about 20 Fyrinnae eyeshadows and exactly 20 samples from High Voltage. I love them all.  I guess I’m like a polygamous husband in that way. So let me introduce you to my newest love!

Please ignore my nasty scarred hands, I couldn’t crop the picture. I’m going to install some decent picture editing software soon, i promise!

Burgundy Rose!  I could write poetry about this color, I love it that much. It’s a beautiful shimmery burgundy with some brown. The picture makes it look very brown but it’s actually more purple. The pic below shows it more true to color.

Here are all four eyeshadow samples I got.

L Tto R the colors are-Warped,Burgundy Rose,Twinkling Cherrine,Marooned

Warped and Burgundy Rose are very shimmery, Twinkling Cherrine has sparkles but is almost like a matte with glitter particles, and Marooned is just like Twinkling Cherrine in the sparkle department.

My only problem so far with these is that two of the samples were generous and two seemed small. I put one of the larger samples in a jar next to the smaller one and the difference is very noticeable. I’m pretty sure one is a freebie but it’s not labeled as a free sample. I guess I’m spoiled because Fyrinnae labels theirs “Free Sample” right on the jar. Also, if only one is a free sample then why are two of them so small? Maybe she was just extra generous with two of them and the smaller ones are the normal sample size? Oh well, enough speculating I just figured it was worth mentioning.

Her prices are very reasonable. She sells Jerome Russel Punky Colours hair dye for 6.00 per jar. Lipstick Samples are $.50 & full sizes are 10.00. They are vegan formulations!! I’ll pay extra to know something isn’t tested on animals and to get something totally vegan is even better. It’s tough to find lip products with no animal products anyway. She offers an amazing range of colors too. I haven’t had a chance to wear them yet but when I do, I’ll share my thoughts! She has multiple size choices for eye colors, samples are $1, 5gr jars are $5, there are also larger jars and refill bags. She offers mineral primers, foundations and veils (even shades for us ghostly complected gals)  glitter eyeliner pencils, and other neat stuff that you’ll just have to check it out yourself!!

I placed my order on April 16th. It arrived today, May 03.  Shipping times were stated on the site when I placed my order.

I can’t say for sure I recommend the company yet as I haven’t worn any of the products but I like what I see so far and I only ordered after reading many positive reviews myself. It’s worth checking out and I advise you to always order samples of some things that look appealing on these mineral companies sites before shelling out full-price for anything.
